Sketchbook Project 2023/24

Propel Youth Arts WA is inviting young people aged 12-26 from across WA to participate in the 2024 Sketchbook Project.

Register for the project and we will send you a free sketchbook to fill in however you wish. Yes, we accept every sketchbook that’s returned!

All submitted sketchbooks will be exhibited as part of the 2024 Youth Week WA KickstART Festival (April 5-12) at the State Library of WA. Then, all sketchbooks embark on a tour of regional and suburban libraries, sharing your stories and art in an ongoing event called The Travelling Sketchbook Exhibition.

Register- Complete the registration form by Monday 18 December 2023. 

• You will be able to select your preferred sketchbook collection and return point from a list of participating library hubs. If you’ve picked up this flyer at your library that means you are at a collection point!

Collect- You will be notified via email or SMS when your sketchbook is ready, this should be in mid January 2024

• Once notified, you can collect a blank sketchbook from the Propel office, or from your chosen hub. If neither option is available to you, contact us and we may be able to post it.

Create- Fill your sketchbook with whatever your heart desires! 

• We want to see drawings, paintings, sketches, intricate math formulas, recipes, origami, poetry or collages- feel free to express yourself in a way that is unique and authentic to you.

Submit- Return and submit your completed sketchbook.

• If you are returning your sketchbook to a library hub, please return it by Wednesday 20 March 2024. All other participants must return their sketchbook by no later than Wednesday 27 March 2024.

Exhibit- The Sketchbook Exhibition at the State Library in April 2024

• After the Youth Week WA KickstART Festival, your sketchbook will be part of the Travelling Sketchbook Exhibition, touring public venues across regional and suburban WA from July until December 2024.

Return- Your sketchbook will be returned to you in February 2025 once the Travelling Sketchbook Exhibition has completed its statewide tour.
