Barry Demi Art Exhibition

The Denmark CRC is extremely excited to invite the community to Barry Demi’s Exhibition.

Opening night will be held Thursday 28th July, 2 pm, where you can mingle and talk with Barry. Tea and damper provided.

Barry Demi was born and raised in Halls Creek. He spent his childhood on a cattle station, Alice Downs with mum and dad, attending school and sharing weekends with his grandmother at Louisa Downs Station.

Inspired by big brother, Barry was sketching by age 8 and mastered sketching by 11 years old. Between the ages of 12 and 16, he won competitions and exposed more of his talents and abilities within the community.

Barry worked full time on various Northern Territory and Western Australia stations throughout the 80s, and as he retired 1992, his passion for painting came into full swing from 1994. With contemporary landscapes styles that includes scenery from desert to the sea as well as portraits and wildlife.

Barry is now a chairperson of Yarliyil Art Centre of Halls Creek, where he organises and plans projects not only for himself but also other artists, displaying their artistic creation around the town and various picnic and swimming areas.

28 years have now passed and he is still very passionate about his love for art.

Now in Walpole for a long holiday, Barry is inspired by the difference of location as he views the forest, beaches and township in a natural beauty that captured his heart.
